Blackburn: A guy named Mohammed Patel, just 24, really messed up on New Year’s Day 2024. He was driving a Volkswagen Golf when the police tried to pull him over. Instead of stopping, he freaked out and took off, speeding through the town like a bat out of hell.

He was zooming around almost double the speed limit, which is just nuts. The court heard he was all over the place—sometimes on the wrong side of the road and even on grass verges. It was a miracle he didn’t hurt himself or anyone else.

Patel, who lives in Blackburn, admitted to dangerous driving and not having insurance. The judge, Darren Preston, pointed out how lucky he was to avoid serious consequences. He mentioned that Patel had no prior convictions and was going through a tough time after losing his dad.

In the end, the judge gave him a 10-month suspended sentence, meaning he won’t go to jail unless he messes up again. He also has to do some community service and can’t drive for a year. If he wants to get back on the road, he’ll need to pass an extended driving test. It’s a tough lesson learned for sure!
