A drunken altercation in a Middlesbrough pub led to a violent attack, resulting in legal consequences for the assailant
Middlesbrough: So, there was this wild scene at the Green Tree pub. Kal Gatley got into a fight with another guy in the toilets, and it didn’t stop there. They took it outside, and things got really messy.
The court heard that there was some bad blood between them before the punches started flying on November 4, 2022. Gatley, who’s 37, was seen throwing a bunch of punches while the pub landlord was begging him to stop.
The landlord even followed the victim outside because he was worried about what was happening. He saw Gatley in a boxing stance, charging at the guy who was just trying to protect himself.
The poor victim got hit around eight times and ended up on the ground, bleeding and shouting for it to stop. It was a pretty brutal scene.
Gatley, who lives on Queens Terrace in Stockton, admitted to causing actual bodily harm. His lawyer mentioned that he hasn’t been in trouble since the incident, which is a good sign.
In the end, the judge gave him a suspended sentence of seven months and two weeks. He also has to do 240 hours of unpaid work, stay sober for 120 days, and attend 30 rehab sessions. It’s a tough lesson learned for him.
