Durham County Council has given the green light for a dog grooming salon in Seaham Grange
Seaham: So, Kim Smith is turning a vacant pizza takeaway into a dog grooming salon. It’s happening at the Seaham Grange Industrial Estate, and the plans are all set.
The space is about 75 square meters, and it won’t need much work. Just a few tweaks like a reception desk and some soundproofing to keep the noise down.
They’re not changing the outside of the building at all, which is pretty cool. Plus, there are already two parking spots, so that should work out fine.
The salon will run on an appointment-only basis, which means no walk-ins. They’ll only have two dogs there at a time, with a max of seven appointments each day.
To keep things smooth, there’ll be a 10-minute gap between appointments. They’ll be open from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
They’re also making sure to keep the noise down with some internal soundproofing. The council gave the thumbs up for this change on January 6, and they’ve got three years to get it up and running.
The salon will have separate areas for grooming and storage, plus all the necessary equipment like a dog bath and dryer. It’s all about making the best use of the space and creating jobs.
No one from the neighborhood raised any concerns, and the traffic from this salon is expected to be less than what other businesses in the area would generate.
