Peter Kurten, known as the Dusseldorf Vampire, murdered nine victims and drank their blood before facing execution in 1931
Dusseldorf: So, there was this guy named Peter Kurten, and he was one seriously messed-up individual. Known as the “Dusseldorf Vampire,” he killed nine people and even drank their blood. Can you believe that?
His childhood was a nightmare, filled with abuse and violence. He started his killing spree when he was just a kid, which is pretty chilling. He had this sick fascination with torturing animals, and it only got worse from there.
Kurten’s first adult victim was a nine-year-old girl named Christine Klein. He found her sleeping during a robbery and, well, it didn’t end well for her. He was so twisted that he even went back to the scene the next day just to enjoy the horror of it all.
Over the years, he managed to evade capture while committing horrific acts, including stabbing and bludgeoning his victims. He had this bizarre urge to drink their blood, which freaked everyone out. People were genuinely scared that a vampire was on the loose.
Eventually, he got caught after a survivor wrote a letter about her attack, which ended up in the wrong hands and reached the police. When the heat was on, Kurten told his wife to turn him in for the reward money. Talk about cold!
In court, he showed no remorse, claiming he had to kill because of his abusive past. The jury didn’t take long to find him guilty, and he was sentenced to death by guillotine. His last words were just as twisted as his actions, asking if he’d still hear his blood gushing after his head was chopped off.
After his execution, his head was preserved and is now on display in a museum. It’s a wild story, and it really makes you think about how someone could become so monstrous.
