East Herts Council has granted planning permission for 10,000 new homes in the Gilston area, marking a significant development milestone.
Gilston: So, East Herts Council just gave the green light for 10,000 new homes in the Gilston area. That’s a big deal! They’re planning to build 8,500 homes across six villages and another 1,500 in a seventh village, all thanks to Places for People and Taylor Wimpey.
But it’s not just about the houses. They’re also adding in some cool stuff like shops, sports facilities, parks, and schools. It’s all part of a bigger plan to make the area a great place to live.
This decision is a big step forward for the Gilston area development, which has been in the works since the Council’s 2018 District Plan. They’ve also got plans for new transport links to make getting around easier.
Councillor Vicky Glover-Ward, who’s in charge of Planning and Growth, is pretty excited about it. She said it’s a major milestone for sustainable growth in East Herts and the wider Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.
And Councillor Richard Roberts from Hertfordshire County Council added that this agreement is crucial for making sure the new homes come with the right infrastructure. He thanked all the councils involved for working hard to get the best deal for everyone.
It sounds like they’re really aiming to create a thriving community with this development, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds!
