A tragic accident at the Willows shopping centre in Torquay has claimed the life of an elderly woman in her 80s
Torquay: A sad incident unfolded at the Willows shopping centre when an elderly woman lost her life after being hit by a car. It happened in the Marks & Spencer car park.
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 4:20 PM on January 9. A red Citroen C3 collided with the woman, who was in her 80s and from Bovey Tracey.
She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. Unfortunately, she passed away later that evening.
The driver, a man from Paignton, was unharmed in the accident. A part of the car park was closed off for a forensic investigation and to recover the vehicle.
Police are looking into what happened and are asking anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward.
