The family of John George returns to Belfast after his tragic death in Spain
Belfast: The family of John George is back home after a heartbreaking ordeal. They were in Spain searching for him when they learned he had been found dead.
John, a 37-year-old dad from west Belfast, went missing while on holiday in Alicante. His last contact with his family was on December 14, and they reported him missing four days later when he didn’t catch his flight back.
His parents, Billy and Sharon, along with his siblings and many friends, joined the search. They were determined to find him, and their efforts were truly inspiring.
Sadly, a body was discovered this week, and Spanish police believe it’s John. When his family arrived at Belfast International Airport, they were met with a warm welcome from supporters who clapped and hugged them.
Billy George expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying they felt overwhelmed. He shared that they wouldn’t have returned without finding John, emphasizing how much they wanted to bring him home.
Now, their focus is on giving John a proper burial in Belfast. Billy said it won’t be the same without him, but at least he’ll be back where he belongs. He also hopes for justice for his son.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland is working with Spanish authorities on the investigation. They’ve been asking for any information that could help, and they’re committed to supporting the family during this tough time.
