We visited the Kilcot Inn for a delightful Sunday roast experience
Newent: If you’re looking for a cozy spot for Sunday lunch, the Kilcot Inn is a gem. This pub has a warm vibe and serves a fantastic roast. It’s easy to find on Ross Road, and there’s plenty of parking, which is a bonus.
The Kilcot Inn has been around since the 1690s, but there’s been a place there since the 1530s. It has a rich history, and the pub was originally built by Thomas Davis back in the day.
After falling into disrepair, a local businesswoman stepped in and gave it a much-needed makeover. Now, it’s known for its award-winning food, which is pretty impressive.
Every Sunday, they dish out roast lunches from noon to 4 PM. We tried the roast beef and pork with stuffing. The beef was tender, but we thought it was sliced a bit thick. The horseradish? Absolutely top-notch!
The roast pork comes with all the trimmings—vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and crackling. The veggies were fresh and cooked just right. If you’re not into pork, they also have chicken and a mushroom Wellington option.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist the warm sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. It was divine! They also have lemon tart and chocolate roulade if you’re in the mood for something different.
We skipped starters, but they sounded tempting. Options included chicken liver pâté and calamari with king prawns. The fried whitebait and soup of the day also caught our eye.
The Kilcot Inn has a nice selection of wines by the glass, and the staff were super attentive. We didn’t wait long for our food, which is always a plus!
