A dangerous e-scooter rider in Erdington was stopped by police after ignoring red lights and weaving through traffic on New Year’s Eve
Birmingham: So, there was this wild e-scooter rider in Erdington on New Year’s Eve. He was zooming around, weaving through traffic, and totally ignoring red lights. Can you believe it? The police finally caught up with him.
This guy was spotted on Gravelly Lane and Summer Road, just darting between lanes like he owned the road. But he didn’t see the unmarked police car nearby. They pulled him over and seized his e-scooter right then and there.
The rider, a 36-year-old dude, is now in a bit of trouble. He’s facing charges for riding without insurance. Not a great way to start the new year, huh?
The Project Guardian team, who usually deal with youth violence and knife crime, were the ones who noticed him. They even shared the story on social media, saying it was a “rude awakening” for the guy.
West Midlands Police confirmed they seized the e-scooter because they suspected it was being ridden without insurance. So, yeah, not the best decision on his part!
