Friends remember Jake Waddington, a former soldier killed in Ukraine, as a kind-hearted and humorous individual
Zaporizhia: Friends are mourning the loss of Jake Waddington, a 34-year-old former British soldier. He was tragically killed by a grenade from a Russian drone while fighting in Ukraine.
Jake, who served in the Royal Anglian Regiment, joined Ukraine’s International Legion last year. He was known for his ability to speak multiple languages, including Russian and Ukrainian.
In the same attack, another soldier was critically injured. Jake’s friend, Rob Clark, shared heartfelt memories on Facebook, calling him one of the best people he knew.
Rob described Jake’s unique sense of humor and his kindness towards everyone. He also highlighted Jake’s love for animals and his strong sense of honor and fairness.
Jake’s military career was cut short due to health issues, but he still found a way to serve by volunteering in Ukraine. Rob mentioned that Jake had recently extended his commitment to fight for another six months.
Rob reflected on their friendship, saying he had many fond memories and was proud of Jake. He expressed his condolences to Jake’s family and friends still fighting in Ukraine.
