Paul Cahoon, a former MMA fighter, pleads guilty to drug trafficking charges in a plot to flood south Wales with cocaine and amphetamines
Widnes: So, there’s this former cage fighter, Paul ‘Boom Boom’ Cahoon, who just admitted to being part of a big drug trafficking operation. He was moving hard drugs from Merseyside to south Wales. Pretty wild, right?
He’s 47 and has been on trial for a while now. The court found out he was a “senior figure” in this gang back in 2015. After some drugs worth a whopping £83,000 got seized, he took off to Dubai and stayed away for nearly ten years. He finally got extradited back to the UK last summer.
During the trial, he confessed to conspiracy charges for supplying cocaine and amphetamines. The judge had to tell the jury to find him guilty. Now, he’s waiting for his sentencing, which is happening tomorrow.
It turns out Cahoon was pretty well-known in the mixed martial arts scene. The prosecution said he was linked to a bunch of drug deals through phone calls and meetings. They even caught a guy with a van full of cocaine back in January 2015, and it all spiraled from there.
There were more drug busts too, including a huge stash of amphetamines found in a car headed for south Wales. Cahoon was in touch with a lot of people involved in this mess, and they think he was calling the shots.
He had a bunch of different phone numbers to avoid getting caught, which the prosecution pointed out. Cahoon claims he was just chatting with friends and that it had nothing to do with drugs. But the timing of his calls makes it hard to believe that.
It’s a crazy story, and it’s not over yet. We’ll see what happens when he gets sentenced.
