The family of Edward Pettifer mourns their loss after he was killed in a New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans, leaving many heartbroken.
New Orleans: A tragic incident unfolded on New Year’s Day when a British man, Edward Pettifer, lost his life in a horrific attack. He was just 31 years old and hailed from Chelsea, London. The attack left 14 people dead and many more injured.
His family shared their heartbreak, calling him a “wonderful son, brother, and friend.” They expressed their sorrow and asked for privacy as they grieve. It’s a tough time for them, and they’re thinking of all the other families affected by this tragedy.
The chaos began when a 42-year-old army veteran, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove his SUV into a crowd on Bourbon Street. After causing the devastation, he was shot by police, who described his actions as intentional.
The FBI labeled the attack as a premeditated act of terrorism, stating Jabbar was inspired by ISIS. They’re investigating further, suggesting he may not have acted alone. They’re asking the public for any information about him in the days leading up to the attack.
Authorities are also looking into footage that shows several individuals possibly involved in placing an explosive device. Jabbar had even tried to destroy evidence by setting fire to a house he was renting, but thankfully, the fire didn’t spread.
Investigators found bomb-making materials at both his New Orleans property and his home in Houston. They also discovered weapons and devices wired for remote detonation, raising serious concerns about the extent of his plans.
