A family has been awarded £1m after a doctor left a bleeding patient to grab a drink, leading to her tragic death
Klang: So, here’s the deal. A woman named Punitha Mohan, just 36, tragically bled to death after giving birth in Malaysia. This happened back in January 2019, and it’s just heartbreaking.
The High Court recently ruled that two doctors and three nurses were at fault for her death. They were found guilty of medical negligence. Can you believe that one of the doctors actually left the hospital to grab a drink?
The judge, Justice Norliza Othman, pointed out that these doctors should have known better. They had years of experience but still left Punitha in a risky situation. It’s just so sad to think this could have been avoided.
After giving birth, Punitha started bleeding heavily. Her mom rushed in when she heard her daughter screaming. It was a nightmare. The doctors had assured the family everything was fine, but they clearly dropped the ball.
Almost two hours later, the nurses finally called for help, but it was too late. Punitha died after surgery, and her family is left with this huge loss. The court ordered the doctors to pay nearly RM6 million in damages, which includes money for her two kids.
