A Merseyside family faces a dire situation, relying on bin bags for toilet needs due to plumbing issues.
Netherton: A family of four is in a tough spot. They’ve been using black bin bags as toilets because their bathroom is a mess. It all started back in December when sewage began overflowing from their toilet, making a real nightmare in their home.
Prasanna Uruthiralingam lives there with his wife and two kids. They rent from One Vision Housing and usually like their place. But when the toilet started acting up, it was a whole different story. Waste was spilling everywhere, even backing up into the bathtub.
Prasanna reached out to One Vision Housing right away. They sent someone to fix it three times, but nothing worked. Eventually, a plumbing engineer took a look and said it was a construction fault. They told him not to use the toilet until it was fixed.
For two weeks, including over Christmas and New Year, the family has been dealing with this. Prasanna said, “We haven’t used the toilet for the last three days. We’re using a bin bag. It’s really serious.”
It’s been stressful. They can’t sleep, always worried about the mess. If they leave the bathroom, the toilet water spills into other rooms. One Vision Housing knows about the issue and is working on it. They even used CCTV to find the blockage.
By January 2, Prasanna shared that the repair was finally done. He’s hopeful this will be the end of their toilet troubles.
