Urfan Sharif, father of Sara Sharif, was assaulted in prison with a tuna tin lid, suffering cuts to his neck and face on New Year’s Day
Woking: So, it turns out that Urfan Sharif, the father of the murdered schoolgirl Sara Sharif, got attacked in prison. Reports say he was ambushed by two inmates at HMP Belmarsh on New Year’s Day. They used a jagged tuna tin lid, which sounds pretty brutal.
A spokesperson from the Prison Service mentioned that the police are looking into the incident. They said it wouldn’t be right to say much while the investigation is ongoing.
According to the reports, Urfan, who’s 43, ended up with cuts on his neck and face but didn’t need to go to the hospital. He got some medical treatment right there in prison.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they’re checking out the claim that a prisoner was assaulted, noting that Urfan’s injuries aren’t life-threatening.
Just to give you some background, Urfan and Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, were sentenced to life in December for years of horrific abuse that led to Sara’s tragic death. It was a really sad case.
The court revealed that Sara endured unimaginable pain and suffering at home in Woking. She was beaten, burned, and restrained, which is just heartbreaking.
Mr. Justice Cavanagh, who handled the case, said Sara’s death was the result of years of neglect and torture. Urfan got a minimum of 40 years, while Batool received 33 years.
Also, Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, was found guilty of allowing her death and got 16 years in prison. The judge made it clear that Sara’s treatment was despicable and happened right in front of the family.
He told Urfan that he treated Sara poorly because he thought he had the right to discipline her harshly. It’s just so sad to think about what that little girl went through.
