Manchester: So, there was this Jet2 flight that had to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport on Sunday afternoon. It was on its way to Fuerteventura from Newcastle when things got a bit dicey.
Apparently, they had a minor technical issue, which is why they had to divert. The flight was supposed to land in the Canary Islands around 2:10 PM, but it got delayed taking off. The weather was a mess, with heavy snow causing delays at airports all over the UK, including Newcastle and Manchester.
When the plane landed, fire crews were already on standby, which is just standard procedure for situations like this. You know, better safe than sorry!
According to the airline, the Jet2 flight took off around 12:42 PM but had to make that emergency landing shortly after 3 PM. There were loads of fire engines and emergency vehicles waiting for them on the runway, which is pretty normal for these kinds of landings.
Flight tracking showed the plane circling over parts of Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, and Cheshire before finally touching down. Thankfully, all the passengers were safe and were later moved to another plane to continue their trip to Fuerteventura.
This all happened just hours after Manchester Airport had warned about major delays due to heavy snowfall that had shut down the runways for a while. They did manage to reopen them, but delays were still expected throughout the day as they worked on clearing the runways and de-icing the planes.
Jet2 has been contacted for a statement about the incident, but it looks like everyone is okay, which is the most important thing!
