A significant fire erupted at a recycling plant near Birmingham Wheels Park, prompting emergency services to respond quickly to the scene.
Birmingham: Last night, firefighters were busy battling a massive fire at a recycling plant on Landor Street, close to Birmingham Wheels Park. The fire kicked off around 11 PM, and it was quite a sight.
Initially, seven fire crews rushed to the scene to tackle the flames, which were consuming large piles of scrap metal. They quickly advised everyone to steer clear of the area.
Residents nearby noticed a strong smell and were told to keep their windows shut because of the thick smoke filling the air. Landor Street was closed off in both directions, and as of this morning, it’s still shut down.
Photos from the scene showed a huge fireball amidst the scrap metal, with smoke billowing high into the sky. It looked pretty intense!
This fire comes just days after another blaze at a different recycling plant in Westgate, Aldridge, which took hours to put out. So, it’s been a rough week for recycling facilities in the area.
A spokesperson from the West Midlands Fire Service mentioned that five crews are still on-site dealing with the aftermath. They’re keeping the road closures in place for safety.
They also reminded locals to keep their windows closed due to the smoke. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
