The Bridlington RNLI launched their lifeboat to assist a fishing vessel in distress
Bridlington: On January 3rd, the RNLI crew got a call late at night. They were asked to launch their lifeboat to help a fishing boat in trouble.
A 10-meter fishing vessel had steering problems and was drifting. It was about 16 nautical miles from Spurn Point, and that was a bit worrying.
With strong winds in the area, the situation could have turned dangerous. So, the crew quickly got their all-weather lifeboat, the ‘Antony Patrick Jones,’ ready to go.
They launched just after midnight, braving the freezing conditions. By 1:30 am, they reached the fishing vessel and started towing it back to safety.
They took the boat to Grimsby Docks without any issues. After that, the RNLI crew returned to Bridlington, arriving back at the beach by 9:30 am.
Once they were back, they washed down the lifeboat, refueled, and were ready for the next call by 10:05 am.
Andy Rodgers, the coxswain, praised the crew for their great work. He said it was a successful mission, and everyone did a fantastic job in those early hours.
