Kent: Snow is starting to settle in various towns across the county. Flood and cold weather warnings are still in effect.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for Kent, lasting until midnight. They predict that some areas could see up to 10cm of snow.

Hawkinge has already seen some snow. Pictures show a light dusting in places like Folkestone, Tenterden, and Hawkhurst.

Experts believe a weather system might push snow southward, which could lead to some disruptions. However, rain or sleet is more likely near the coast.

There’s a small chance of power cuts and travel delays on roads, trains, and flights.

Forecasters say Kent will remain cold with sleet and snow throughout the day.

A spokesperson from the Met Office mentioned that it would start off cold and bright, but clouds would roll in from the south, bringing sleet and snow to southern counties, especially south of London. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 3 °C.

It’s snowing in Tenterden High Street, and the pictures are quite lovely.

Tonight, it should dry up, but it will stay cold with a widespread frost and some ice likely into Thursday morning. The minimum temperature could drop to -3 °C.

Earlier this month, we had our first snow, but it melted quickly as the weather turned milder.

Officials advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys and to check their cars before heading out. It’s smart to pack essentials in case of delays.

Being prepared for power cuts or being cut off from services due to snow can really help. Simple things like gathering torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack can make a difference.

Folkestone is also experiencing snow this evening, and the pictures are beautiful.

Kent County Council has warned that an amber cold weather warning will remain in effect until Sunday, with low temperatures and more snow and ice expected.

They posted on X that the amber alert has been extended until noon on January 12 across the southeast, including Kent. They urge everyone to check on vulnerable family, friends, and neighbors.

Flooding continues to affect properties in the county, with some roads becoming impassable.

One woman had to be rescued from her car on Monday evening after getting stuck in Hartlake Road in Tudeley, Tonbridge.

Residents in Little Venice Country Park and Marina in Yalding and nearby areas should prepare for flooding, while parts of Ashford, Thanet, and Tonbridge may also be affected.
