Washington D.C.: A five-year-old girl is in a tough spot after her three-year-old brother accidentally shot her at home. It’s a heartbreaking situation.

The little guy found a gun that wasn’t secured, and it turned out to be a ghost gun. This happened in their apartment complex around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

At the time, their mom had left them with a family friend. When the police got the call about the shooting, they rushed to the scene and found the girl hurt.

They did their best to help her before she was taken to a children’s hospital. Sadly, she’s still in critical condition.

Police Chief Pamela Smith spoke about the incident, stressing how important it is to keep guns locked up, especially around kids. It’s such a tragic reminder of the need for gun safety.

Two people have been arrested related to this incident. D’Jaunae McCrory Jackson, the girl’s sibling, faces several serious charges, including negligent storage of a firearm.

Another man, Darrel Graham, was also arrested at the scene and charged with cruelty to children. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.

The investigation is still ongoing, and it’s a sad reminder of how quickly things can go wrong.
