Cheshire East Council has closed footpaths near the Bridgewater Canal due to safety concerns after recent flooding damage
Dunham Massey: Recently, heavy rain caused some serious issues for the Bridgewater Canal. The banks just couldn’t hold up anymore, leading to some big collapses around Dunham Massey and Little Bollington.
The canal towpath is usually a favorite spot for walkers, and many folks have been stopping by to snap photos of the damage. It’s quite a sight, but not one you want to get too close to right now.
In response, Cheshire East Council has stepped in to close off several footpaths for safety. They’re taking this seriously, and it’s all about keeping people safe while they sort things out.
A spokesperson from the council mentioned that they’re working with other agencies to handle the aftermath of the flooding. They’ve put up notices in the affected areas to let everyone know about the closures.
The closures are set for at least 21 days, but they’ll keep checking the situation. They’re really urging people to stay away from the area and respect the barriers they’ve put up.
So, if you’re thinking about heading that way, it’s best to hold off for now. They’re just looking out for everyone’s safety, and it’s appreciated. Thanks for being patient while they get everything back to normal!
