Ewan and Martha Douglas took it upon themselves to clean up Forfar after New Year’s celebrations left the town in disarray
Forfar: A dad and his daughter decided to roll up their sleeves and clean up their town after Hogmanay. Ewan Douglas, 44, and his nine-year-old daughter Martha were shocked by the mess left behind.
On New Year’s Day, they grabbed dustpans and brushes to tackle the piles of rubbish and broken glass. They figured the Angus Council workers were probably taking a break, so they took matters into their own hands.
Ewan shared that it was pretty surprising to see the state of the town. They brought along some bin bags and got to work. It felt good to make the place look a bit nicer.
He mentioned how people were even walking into Gregg’s with broken windows, which was a real eyesore. Ewan believes that if everyone pitches in a little, it can make a big difference.
Martha chimed in about the scene they encountered. There were all sorts of things scattered around, like pizza boxes and even dog food. It was a real mess, but they managed to clean it up in under an hour.
Afterward, someone snapped a photo of them in action and shared it on Facebook. The community quickly praised their efforts, with many expressing gratitude for their kindness.
