A group in Dundee has been convicted for exploiting vulnerable women through trafficking and drug manipulation
Dundee: A gang that preyed on vulnerable women has been convicted. They were involved in human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and drug supply. It’s a pretty serious case.
This all went down at the High Court in Glasgow. Five individuals, including Marian Cumpanasoiu and Remus Stan, were found guilty. Police Scotland has been on this case for a while.
The gang, hailing from Romania, used drugs to control their victims. They got these women hooked, making it hard for them to break free. It’s just heartbreaking.
They’ll be sentenced soon, but the investigation, called Operation Recloir, started back in 2021. It aimed to tackle human trafficking in the Tayside area.
Detective Inspector Scott Carswell shared that the inquiry began with brothels but soon revealed a darker side. The gang was grooming local women, offering them free drugs to manipulate them.
Sadly, this led to addiction and exploitation. Police Scotland is now working to support the affected women, focusing on their welfare and long-term safety. It’s a tough situation, but they’re trying to help.
