They’re fixing up Hall’s Croft in Stratford. Work starts this spring, and you can watch it happen. You can see it from a platform and even take hard hat tours.

Hall’s Croft was Susanna Hall’s home, Shakespeare’s oldest daughter. Experts already started some work, checking the wood frame’s condition. They’re planning repairs panel by panel.

Phase one includes removing more panels, specifically 265 modern panels on the building’s rear. Next come timber frame repairs. Later, they will install new panels, built like in the 1600s.

Peter McCurdy from McCurdy & Co leads the work. The viewing platform lets people see inside. Experts will lead hard hat tours so you can see the work up close and ask questions.. They will announce details soon.

Tim Aucott, who works for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, discussed the project. He’s excited about conserving Hall’s Croft. Playwright Ken Ludwig donated a lot, giving £1 million to help.

They want people to see the work. The viewing platform is in the garden. You can drop in and see the progress, no need to book ahead of time.

McCurdy & Co will help with tours. They know a lot about timber work, having worked on Shakespeare’s Globe. They will share their knowledge.
