He spent over three hours testifying, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a circus. The 80-year-old former mayor kept saying he didn’t mean to hide anything. But when it came to his grandfather’s old gold pocket watch, he admitted he didn’t want to hand it over. He was worried it might get lost.
Giuliani said, “Losing the watch is the last thing I want.” He insisted he wasn’t trying to hide it, just keeping it safe because it meant a lot to him.
During the hearing, the judge reminded him that he had a clear obligation to turn over his assets. But Giuliani claimed he didn’t know where some of them were. It was a bit of a mess, honestly.
He mentioned a long list of his assets, including a fancy Mercedes and some signed sports memorabilia. But when the election workers’ attorneys showed up, a lot of his stuff was missing. It looked like he had cleared out his apartment just before they arrived.
Giuliani even argued about a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey that was supposedly in his apartment. He said it might have been moved out, but his friend swore he saw it in Giuliani’s condo. It’s all a bit confusing.
He also had some issues with his bankruptcy filings, claiming there were inconsistencies. He said he just couldn’t keep track of everything he owned. “I get confused about what I have and don’t have,” he said.
After a long day in court, Giuliani’s attorneys asked to have him appear remotely for health reasons. He’s set to continue his testimony soon, and it looks like this saga isn’t over yet.
Outside the courthouse, Giuliani seemed skeptical about the judge’s decisions. He joked about how they hadn’t won anything in court yet. It’s a wild situation, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
