Troon: The Glen Sannox is set to make its first trip early Monday, connecting Arran to the Scottish mainland. But now, that 6:30am sailing is in jeopardy due to expected high winds.

CalMac has already canceled all sailings on the MV Alfred, which also runs between the mainland and Arran, because of the bad weather.

They took to social media to warn that the new Glen Sannox service might face disruptions. They issued a yellow warning, saying the 6:30 departure from Troon and the 8:40 from Brodick could be canceled at short notice.

CalMac had previously mentioned they were still sorting out a few issues with the Glen Sannox. One of the problems is oil contamination in a hydraulic system, which has led to the closure of a mezzanine deck.

Fortunately, this deck closure shouldn’t impact capacity much since demand is low during the winter months.

On another note, the sister vessel, Glen Rosa, is expected to be handed over in September, but reports suggest that might be delayed until spring 2026. The costs for both ferries have skyrocketed, now expected to exceed £97 million.

Ferguson Marine’s interim CEO, John Petticrew, expressed that everyone is eager to see Glen Rosa delivered safely and quickly. He mentioned that they are currently reviewing their plans for Glen Rosa’s delivery.

Once they finish this review, they’ll be able to provide a more accurate completion date for Glen Rosa.
