A Grade-II listed home in Yarm has received approval to operate as a holiday let
Yarm: So, Neil Johnson wanted to turn his two-bedroom terrace on Bridge Street into a holiday let. And guess what? Stockton Council gave it the green light!
The council mentioned that since the place was already being used for short-term stays, they needed to make it official. They said it was a big deal because it changed how the property was used.
Basically, the house is being rented out all year round, not just occasionally like a regular home. It’s in a prime spot right in the center of Yarm, close to shops and services, making it a great place for tourists.
Interestingly, no one from the council or the neighborhood raised any concerns about the plan. Plus, they confirmed that there wouldn’t be any changes to the historic building itself.
While they acknowledged that having a holiday let could affect the area, they found that this particular one hadn’t caused any issues so far.
They pointed out that even though it’s in a residential area, it’s really close to the town center, which is buzzing with activity.
They also noted that even though guests would be temporary residents, it didn’t seem to harm the character of the property or the neighborhood.
Of course, they recognized that visitors might behave differently than permanent residents, possibly making more noise or using outdoor spaces more often.
But since it’s a small place with just two bedrooms, it’s likely to attract couples or small families, not rowdy groups that could disturb the neighbors.
