The Great Bristol Run is set to return in May with a new two-day format, featuring races for all ages and a vibrant atmosphere
Bristol: It’s that time of year again! January is here, and folks are ditching the pubs for the gym. Sure, it might not last, but why not use this time to kickstart a healthy 2025? The AJ Bell Great Bristol Run is back, and it’s going to be bigger than ever. Seriously, now’s the perfect moment to start training for that half marathon!
This year, they’ve got something for everyone. With entries flying off the shelves, the Great Bristol Run is rolling out a brand new two-day format in May. They’re expecting a record turnout, especially after 20,000 runners joined in last year.
Thousands of runners from all over the South West and beyond will be hitting the streets of Bristol. The 10k and half-marathon routes on Sunday, May 11, will take you past some of the city’s most iconic spots. Think historic harbourside, Castle Park, and Queen Square, with stunning views along the Avon Gorge.
And it’s not just about the running! There’ll be a live DJ at the finish line, music zones along the course, and loads of cheering fans to keep the energy high. Plus, there’s a brand new Junior & Mini event on Saturday, May 10, so even the little ones can join in on the fun.
They’re calling it ‘Super Saturday’! The Minis (ages 3-8) will tackle a 1.5km loop, while the Juniors (ages 8-15) will face a 2.5k challenge. Both events start and finish at College Green, winding through the city and past some of Bristol’s famous landmarks. The Great Bristol Run is teaming up with Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal for this exciting new addition.
“This gives our younger runners their own time to shine the day before the main event,” said Paul Foster, CEO at the Great Run Company. “We hope this will encourage more families to participate without messing up their Sunday plans. Plus, it frees up time on a busy Sunday, letting us better accommodate the growing numbers in the 10k and half marathon.”
