Hampshire County Council and NFDC are asking for more details on Hoburne Development’s housing project in New Milton before moving forward
New Milton: Hampshire County Council’s highways team is looking for more details about a plan to build nine homes. They want to make sure everything’s in order before giving their thumbs up to the district planners.
Hoburne Development Company Ltd is asking the New Forest District Council for permission to put up these homes on land near Manor Farm Close, right off Christchurch Road. But to do that, they’ll need to tear down some old commercial buildings and make some changes to the area.
They’re also planning to add some new access points, parking spaces, and even spots for bins and bikes. But there’s a hitch: the transport planner, Zara Rogers, pointed out that the developer hasn’t shared enough details about how cars will get in and out of the site.
She mentioned that they also need to provide tracking info on vehicle movements and clarify how rubbish will be collected. Until they get that info, the Highway Authority can’t make a formal recommendation.
On the ecology side, NFDC’s team is mostly okay with the development but still has some concerns. They want to see an assessment of how the project might affect bats in the area and have noted some inconsistencies in the developer’s reports.
Craig Milligan, the environmental health officer, is also asking for more details on noise pollution during construction. He wants to ensure that the impact on the neighborhood is understood before he weighs in.
The developers claim this project will be a “sustainable form of development” that benefits New Milton’s economy and community. They argue that these new homes will make better use of urban land and meet the local demand for housing.
Just a heads up, the public consultation on this housing plan wraps up on Friday, January 17th, so there’s still time for folks to weigh in.
