Northern trains have seen some truly strange lost items, from hamsters to wigs
Leeds: You won’t believe the stuff people leave behind on Northern trains. Since July 2022, they’ve logged over 32,690 lost items. Crazy, right?
Sure, phones and laptops are common, but some of the things are just wild. We’re talking about a wig, a cupboard, crutches, an ironing board, and even a 10kg box of chicken breasts!
One passenger even forgot their bike on the train while still wearing their helmet. Can you imagine? And another person was on a mission to find a plain white handkerchief.
Northern, which runs nearly 2,500 daily services across the North of England, is reminding folks to double-check their stuff before hopping off the train.
Alex Hornby, their commercial and customer director, said losing something can be super stressful. They really want to help people keep track of their belongings.
He also mentioned that unattended bags can trigger security alerts, causing delays. So, it’s best to keep an eye on your things!
If you do lose something, Northern’s staff are ready to help track it down. But it’s not always easy, so being careful is key.
