London: A Harlow man is in some serious trouble after a tragic incident on Christmas Day. Anthony Gilheaney, 30, is accused of hitting four pedestrians while driving in the West End.

It all went down near Shaftesbury Avenue when he was allegedly behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz. Sadly, one of the injured, Aidan Chapman, 25, later died in the hospital on New Year’s Eve.

Initially, Gilheaney faced multiple charges, including attempted murder and possession of a weapon. But now, with Mr. Chapman’s death, he’s looking at a murder charge.

He appeared in court via video link from Belmarsh Prison for a preliminary hearing. The judge set a timeline for the case, with a plea hearing scheduled for March 28 and a trial expected to start on December 1.

During the hearing, Gilheaney only confirmed his identity and was sent back into custody. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
