Manchester United’s Harry Maguire faces a 56-day driving ban after speeding at 85mph in a 50mph zone, along with a hefty fine.
Manchester: So, Harry Maguire, the Manchester United star, just got himself into a bit of trouble. He was caught zooming down the road at 85mph in a 50mph zone. Yikes!
He showed up in court and ended up with a 56-day driving ban and a fine of over a grand. Not exactly a great day for him, right? This all went down at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
Apparently, he was driving his Range Rover when he got snapped going 35mph over the limit. It happened last March as he was leaving a tunnel near Manchester Airport. Talk about a risky move!
The prosecutor mentioned that Maguire wasn’t even in court for the sentencing. He admitted to being the driver, but they couldn’t just give him a slap on the wrist because of how fast he was going.
His lawyer said he was offered a speed awareness course but couldn’t take it because he was out of the country. That’s a bummer!
If he had gotten six points on his license, he could’ve faced a longer ban. His lawyer admitted that the speed was “wholly excessive,” which is pretty clear to anyone who drives.
Even though he’s a public figure and all, it seems like he’s got the cash to pay the fine quickly. He’s been with Manchester United since 2019 and was their captain until last year.
Oh, and just to add to the drama, he missed a chance to score in a recent match against Liverpool. But hey, the club decided to keep him for another season, so it’s not all bad!
