The head of the Metropolitan Police’s Black Police Association is accused of sharing offensive messages in a group chat, sparking a misconduct hearing.
London: So, there’s this big story about the head of the Metropolitan Police’s Black Police Association, Charles Ehikioya. He’s in hot water for being part of a group chat that shared some pretty offensive stuff.
During a misconduct hearing, it came out that he was involved in a chat where they sent around racist jokes about East Asian folks and even a video making fun of Katie Price’s son, Harvey. Not cool, right?
Ehikioya, who leads the Black Police Association, claims these messages were either made up or wrongly linked to him because of his race or position. He’s really pushing back against these accusations.
Apparently, over 7,000 messages were exchanged between 2017 and 2020, filled with all sorts of inappropriate content. The representative for the Met called the messages disgraceful.
One message he allegedly sent was a pretty offensive joke involving Hugh Hefner and a comment about Muslims. That’s just one example of the kind of stuff that was shared.
Then there’s former officer Carlo Francisco, who sent a video of someone wearing a mask of Harvey’s face while doing something really inappropriate. It’s just shocking.
Katie Price, who’s Harvey’s mom, expressed how upset she was about the comments made about her son, who has special needs. Scotland Yard even apologized to her after the hearing.
There were also claims of racist messages about Chinese people. At one point, Ehikioya even warned Francisco to stop sharing those kinds of messages, saying it could get him in trouble.
But Francisco replied in a way that seemed to brush it off, which is just baffling. The hearing is set to continue until January 10, and for now, Ehikioya is on restricted duties.
