Accrington: The Head of English at Accrington Academy, Lee Croniken, made a bold move by shaving his head in front of the whole school. He did this to show support for his grandson, Logan, who is facing a tough battle with Severe Aplastic Anaemia.

On December 20, Lee took the clippers to his hair, raising funds for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust. Logan was diagnosed with this rare condition earlier this year and is gearing up for a bone marrow transplant.

This condition makes it hard for the bone marrow to produce enough blood cells, which has been a real challenge for Logan and his family. During an emotional assembly, Mr. Croniken shared Logan’s story, raising awareness about the illness.

Shaving his head was more than just a gesture; it represented the family’s journey through Logan’s treatment. The support from the school community was incredible, with a thousand students and staff cheering as they learned that Mr. Croniken and the Team AA family raised over £2,100 for the charity.

After the event, Mr. Croniken expressed how inspired he is by Logan’s bravery. He mentioned that shaving his head is a small act compared to what Logan is facing, but it’s his way of standing by him and promoting awareness for this important cause.

Principal Jamie Peel praised the event, highlighting the strong sense of community at Accrington Academy. He said it truly showed the spirit of #TeamAA and expressed pride in Mr. Croniken’s gesture and the support for Logan’s family.

The academy has come together to support this campaign, with students and staff working hard to raise funds for the Trust. Donations are still welcome on the campaign page.

All the money raised will go directly to the Aplastic Anaemia Trust, which helps those affected by bone marrow failure conditions.
