London roads are sadly getting more dangerous, and more people are dying in crashes. Sixty-six pedestrians died in London in 2024; that is one death roughly every five days. A two-year-old died in Wembley, and an eight-year-old died in west London after a lorry hit her while she walked to a gurdwara.

Aidan Chapman, 25, died after Christmas when a car hit many pedestrians in Soho. He passed away in the hospital on New Year’s Eve. Anthony Gilheaney, 30, faces charges of attempted murder and other crimes.

One fatal victim was an 85-year-old woman, struck by a bus in Hackney. Several people in their 80s also died. October was the deadliest month for pedestrians, with someone almost dying every two days. Safia Ali died on October 1 after being hit by a tow truck and a car.

The pedestrian death map shows the tragic data, although the map excludes some road incidents. A pregnant woman died in a car crash in October, and her unborn baby also died. Her car reportedly flipped over multiple times.

TfL data show 130 road deaths in London for 2024. Sixty-six were pedestrians, ten were cyclists, and eighteen were motorcyclists. Twenty-seven were in cars, three occupied buses, five were in HGVs, and one used an e-scooter. Pedestrian deaths increased by nearly 25%.

Ten cyclists died in London in 2024. One man died after colliding with a bus, an accident that happened in Streatham Hill in December.
