A family is devastated after a missing father was found dead in Benidorm, prompting a murder investigation
Benidorm: It’s such a heartbreaking situation. The sister of John George, who went missing, is absolutely crushed after police found a body. She said her “heart is broken.”
John, also known as John Hardy, disappeared on December 18. He was supposed to fly home to spend Christmas with his two young sons, aged 6 and 13, but never made it.
His sister, Courtney, was determined to find him. She even set up a GoFundMe to help the family get to Alicante, where John was on holiday.
Sadly, the search ended on January 7 when police informed their dad, Billy, that they had found a body believed to be John’s. A murder investigation is now underway.
Kevin Winters, the family’s lawyer, shared that Billy received the news from Spanish police shortly after 5 PM on that day. They told him John’s body was in a morgue, waiting for identification.
While the family is devastated, there’s also a sense of relief that the search is over. It’s been a really tough time for them.
Spanish police have reportedly made an arrest in connection with the case, which adds another layer to this tragic story.
That evening, Courtney changed her profile picture to one with John, captioning it, “I love you forever and always.” She thanked everyone for their support but mentioned she needed time to process everything. Her heart is just broken.
Before all this, she had expressed her worries about John’s disappearance, saying they were very close and he wouldn’t go days without talking to her.
She hadn’t eaten in days and felt physically sick from the stress of not hearing from him. They had plans for Christmas dinner, and it’s just so sad.
Her GoFundMe campaign raised over £26,000 to help with the search, showing how much support they had from the community.
John’s brother, Darren, described him as a “happy-go-lucky guy” who struggled with addiction but would never have missed Christmas with his boys. It’s just a tragic loss for the family.
