An Inverness care worker has been removed from the register for not depositing over £6,000 collected from sheltered housing.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) found that he failed to follow proper conduct. They discovered 19 instances where he didn’t deposit the money into the council’s bank account. The amounts varied, but it all added up to a significant sum.
The SSSC said his behavior was “extremely serious” and could have impacted the finances of service users. They emphasized that social service workers need to be trustworthy, especially when handling money.
Jamieson’s actions were deemed incompatible with professional standards. Even though he didn’t work directly with service users, the risk to them was clear. The SSSC made it clear that such behavior damages the reputation of the profession.
In short, this situation serves as a reminder of the importance of integrity in social services. Trust is everything, and when it’s broken, the consequences can be severe.
