The Kessock RNLI crew swiftly rescued two people from a yacht in distress due to engine failure amid strong winds.
The RNLI was called at 2:22 PM on Friday after the coastguard reached out for help. The yacht was trying to get back to its home port but was having a tough time. With the tide going out and the wind picking up, it was in danger of being blown ashore.
When the lifeboat arrived, the helm quickly decided the best move was to tow the yacht to Inverness marina. They made good progress and had the yacht safely docked within an hour, handing it over to the Inverness Coastguard.
The crew did the right thing by calling for help before things got worse. It’s always smart to reach out if you see someone in trouble on the water. Just dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
