Lairg: So, there was a fire at the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre, and it’s closed for now. It happened around midday on Monday, and no one was inside when it started. Talk about bad luck!

Tom Bannerman and his partner, Annie Rose Munro, run the place. They were really hoping to keep it open during the winter for locals to grab some coffee and cake. But now, they’ve got to deal with the aftermath of this fire.

Tom mentioned it’s a real bummer since they had plans to stay open even in the off-season. They wanted to give the community a cozy spot to hang out. Now, they’ll have to assess the damage before they can think about reopening.

The fire seems to have been caused by some electrical issue, and thankfully, the fire brigade got there quickly after their security system alerted them. Tom was really grateful for their fast response.

There’s some smoke damage, and they’ll need to clean everything up before they can welcome visitors again. Tom expressed his apologies to anyone who had plans to visit soon and promised they’ll be back as soon as they can.

It’s just a tough situation, but they’re hopeful for a speedy recovery. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for them!
