G. Shearer & Son in Holbeach has received planning permission to expand their store, enhancing their offerings for the community.
Holbeach: A beloved family-run butcher shop is getting a boost! G. Shearer & Son has been given the green light to expand their store.
This award-winning shop has been a staple in the community for years. They’ve just received planning permission to extend their Highfield Farm location.
The new space will mainly feature display cabinets and areas for hygiene prep. Sounds like a smart move, right?
The extension is set to be about 7.7 meters by 10 meters. To make room, part of the existing shop will be taken down.
According to the planning report, even though the extension is quite large, it won’t overshadow the current building. It’ll fit in nicely.
The Shearer family has been in the butchery game since the early 1900s. Gerald Shearer started in Holbeach back in 1950, and they’ve been going strong ever since.
Last summer, their business manager, Ben Tindale, even snagged second place in the World Butcher Wars. How cool is that?
Plus, their sausages have been turning heads! At last year’s Butchers Pride awards, their Lincolnshire sausage got a thumbs up, and their Oriental Foo Kin Hot Choc won Gold.
The local council is all for the expansion, and the planning officer noted that the extension will blend well with the surroundings, thanks to existing trees and hedgerows.
