Hyde: A huge sinkhole has opened up on a street in Greater Manchester, and it’s causing quite a stir. Flooding has been a real headache for the area lately.

The sinkhole appeared on Taylor Street early in the morning. You can actually see pipes sticking out from the water at the bottom of it. A local resident, Debbie Cotgrave, shared her experience. She had been out the night before, took a taxi home, and went to bed.

She heard a loud bang but thought nothing of it. When she woke up, she was shocked to find the sinkhole right outside!

There are also other road closures in Greater Manchester due to the heavy rain. Another sinkhole has popped up on Delph New Road, and major roads like the A555 and M56 are affected too.

Train services around Manchester Piccadilly are disrupted, and train operators are advising people to avoid traveling if possible.

In response to the flooding, Greater Manchester Police has declared a ‘major incident.’ The Environment Agency has issued numerous flood warnings, urging residents to take immediate action.

Some people have even been evacuated from their homes, and a nightclub had to clear out its patrons. The fire service is also helping with evacuations.

Stay tuned for live updates from the M.E.N. as the situation develops.
