Hungerford: Recently, police are looking into a strange incident where a guy went wild with a hammer and damaged a car near a retirement home.

During their monthly update to the town council, the police mentioned that on December 7, they got several calls about a man with a hammer causing chaos in the Redwood House area.

They couldn’t share much more since the investigation is still in progress. But that’s not all; they also caught a local guy who was suspected of shoplifting six times in the past few weeks.

The police thanked everyone who helped by giving statements and sharing CCTV footage that helped them track down the suspect.

On New Year’s Day, there was a bit of a ruckus on the High Street, leading to two arrests. One person even had to go to the hospital but was back home shortly after.

In a separate incident, someone smashed the window of Hungerford Gourmet Oriental around 3 am that same day, and one person was arrested for that too.

Last December, the police also noted three reports of antisocial behavior, a theft involving parcels left on doorsteps, and another shoplifting case at Dobbies Garden Centre on Bath Road.
