Hyndburn: So, there’s been some drama over a care home proposal in Huncoat. The council just shot down a second appeal to turn a family house into a care home for kids. The planning inspector, Mr. Clowes, backed the council’s earlier decision to say no to this idea.

The property in question is at 7 Bluebell Way. The plan was to make it a home for a mother and baby or two kids, with a few carers around. Back in April, the council went against their own officers’ advice and turned down this proposal, along with another one for a nearby house.

Things got a bit heated when a local mom, Kelly Ball, spoke up about her worries. She shared how her child had been in a scary situation due to double parking on the road. The company behind the care home had some luck with another property, but this one just didn’t make the cut.

Mr. Clowes looked into the appeal for 7 Bluebell Way and decided to stick with the refusal. He mentioned that the area is already pretty busy with parking, and adding a care home would just make things worse. It’s a tight spot, and there’s not enough room for everyone’s cars without causing safety issues.

He also noted that while the care home could help meet some local needs, it wouldn’t really make a big difference overall. The safety concerns just outweighed any potential benefits. Local resident Jackie Rawstron was pleased with the decision, saying it aligned with their worries about safety on the roads.

Prosperity Children’s Services Ltd has been asked for their thoughts on this outcome. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but safety seems to be the priority here.
