Inquest into Tragic Death of ‘Brilliant’ Swindon Mum Concludes

Swindon: Danielle Geraghty, a 30-year-old mum from Walcot, was found dead in an outhouse on December 14, 2023. She had gone missing the day before.

During the inquest on January 17, the coroner revealed that her death was due to a mix of alcohol toxicity and cold exposure. While she didn’t drink a lethal amount, it made her more susceptible to the cold in that rundown outhouse.

Friends and family remember Danielle as a lovely person who always made time for others. She had been at her half-sister Nicola’s house just days before her death, where they spent the night talking and drinking.

Danielle was feeling down due to a relationship issue and her dad’s health problems. Nicola shared how she tried to lift Danielle’s spirits, and they even went to bed together that night.

When Nicola woke up the next morning, Danielle was gone. She reported her missing right away. The last sighting of her was when a taxi dropped her off at Walcot Road in the middle of the night, but how she ended up in the outhouse remains a mystery.

Police looked into the situation but found no signs of foul play or injuries. A fundraiser by her friend Bobbi raised thousands to help her family after the tragedy.

Bobbi expressed how much Danielle was loved, mentioning her 8-year-old daughter, who was everything to her. The community is heartbroken over this loss.

Danielle was known for her vibrant personality and was always the life of the party. She had a history of mental health struggles and alcohol issues but was actively seeking help before her death.

Dr. Ramasamy, who worked with her, noted that Danielle was referred urgently to mental health services and was engaged in the process. She had been feeling overwhelmed but was willing to get the help she needed.
