Brown bin permits are now available online. Find them on the council website. These permits let them collect your brown bin.

The permit gets you 18 collections each year. This service runs from March to November. They will collect on your blue bin day.

You can buy the permits online by going to inverclyde.gov.uk/garden-waste. A councilor said it signals spring, as residents start gardening again.

About 11,000 people buy permits annually. You can put certain materials inside, such as grass, trimmings, weeds, and leaves. Shrub cuttings also work, and they turn it into compost.

Do not put soil in your brown bin, as they will not empty it. This year’s permit is red and works from March 10 to November 3 or 10, 2025.

If your bin lacks a 2025 permit, they won’t empty it. The permit costs £44.10, and this price stays the same all year. Please put your bin out by 7 a.m. on recycling day during the season.
