Police engage with Inverkeithing High School boys over organized fighting incidents
Inverkeithing: Recently, some boys at Inverkeithing High School got into trouble for organizing fights on school grounds. The police were called in to address the situation.
Headteacher Graham Belford confirmed that they reached out to parents and involved the police. The boys were warned about the dangers of their actions through the ‘One Punch Can Ruin Two Lives’ campaign.
A police report mentioned that the school asked community officers to talk about anti-social behavior and its effects. They focused on a small group of boys who were part of these fights.
Officers discussed past campaigns and how their choices could impact their futures. They plan to keep working with the school to prevent further issues.
It seems this isn’t just a one-off incident. Last month, reports surfaced about similar fight clubs at other local schools, where students were even charging admission to watch the fights.
Some of these fights were bare-knuckle, while others used boxing gloves, leading to injuries among students. Mr. Belford acknowledged the issue and assured that parents were informed and actions were taken.
The police campaign warns that a single punch can have serious consequences, including jail time. They emphasized the importance of thinking about the long-term effects of violent actions.
Local community policing sergeant Barry Stewart mentioned they were aware of planned fights in the area and are working with schools to address the problem. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the police.
