Inverness bars shine at the Best Bar None Awards, showcasing their hard work and community spirit amidst challenges
Johnny Foxes & The Den took home the top prize, being named the best bar overall. They also snagged an award for their innovative approach to social responsibility. The owner, Don Lawson, was over the moon about the three awards, saying it made all the hard work worth it.
Other winners included Playback, which was named Best Newcomer, and The Gellions, recognized for being the heart of the community. Several bars will represent Inverness at the national finals in March, which is exciting news for the local scene.
Gordon McIntosh, chair of Inverness BID, highlighted the tough times the hospitality industry has faced. He praised the bars for their resilience and determination to keep improving despite challenges like recruitment and rising costs.
The Gellions was celebrated for being a welcoming venue for all ages and supporting good causes. Johnny Foxes & The Den was also commended for their commitment to staff training and community partnerships.
A raffle and a fun game raised £800 for the city’s Medical Emergency Response Team, showing how these bars give back to the community. It’s great to see Inverness bars thriving and making a positive impact!
