Eric Walker, a 100-year-old D-Day veteran, seeks to regain his Green Party membership after suspension due to comments about gender.
Eric turns 100 this Thursday and wants his membership back by then. He also hopes to get a birthday greeting from King Charles III. Reaching 100 is a big deal, he said, hoping his suspension would end by his birthday, but sadly, that didn’t happen.
The Green Party won’t discuss specific cases, but they are reviewing some suspensions without assigned fault. Walker worked on the railway before. People accused him of sending a certain email that mentioned different types of transgender people.
Walker denies his comments were transphobic, and he claims to have helped transgender causes. He says the suspension is ironic because in 1978, he released a sympathetic film showing problems trans people faced and he founded a charity addressing social issues.
Walker admits he made a mistake regarding names, as he tried revealing some party members’ identities. Now he wants the rule changed, and he called out for that change to happen.
