Jay-Z’s legal team argues for dismissal of a sexual assault lawsuit due to inconsistencies in the accuser’s claims and timeline.
Rochester: So, Jay-Z is in the news again. He’s trying to get a sexual assault lawsuit tossed out. His lawyers say the accuser’s story has some big holes in it.
This lawsuit was refiled last December, claiming that Jay-Z and Diddy assaulted a woman back in 2000 at an MTV afterparty. But the woman has admitted to some inconsistencies in her account.
On Wednesday, Jay-Z’s team pointed out these inconsistencies as a reason to dismiss the case. His attorney, Alex Spiro, mentioned that the woman even said she made “some mistakes” during an NBC interview.
Spiro also claimed that the accuser’s lawyer didn’t properly check the facts before making such serious allegations against Jay-Z.
At a press conference, Spiro said the timeline in the lawsuit just doesn’t add up. The woman said she snuck out of her house in Rochester and made it to the VMAs, but there’s no evidence of a jumbotron outside the venue that year.
She claimed she watched the event from outside, then got a ride to a party where the alleged assault happened. But Spiro argues that it would have taken her too long to make that trip.
He said, “This story is not just a lie; it’s provably false.” He’s confident that the case will be dismissed, saying it can’t possibly be true based on the timeline alone.
This lawsuit comes as Diddy faces his own legal troubles, including federal sex trafficking charges. He’s currently awaiting trial in New York.
