A lone burglar executed a daring heist, stealing £10.4m in jewellery from a luxury London home while the family was inside
London: So, there was this wild burglary in one of those fancy mansions. A thief broke in and made off with over £10 million worth of jewellery in just 19 minutes. Can you believe it?
This guy snuck in through a second-floor window while the family was home. He cracked a safe and grabbed a bunch of high-value stuff before slipping out the same way he came in. Talk about gutsy!
It all went down on December 7th in St John’s Wood. The burglar was in and out before anyone even knew what was happening. He was armed, too, which is just insane.
Security cameras caught him in action, but his face was covered. Now, the police are on the hunt, and the family is offering a huge reward for info leading to his capture.
While he was there, he snagged some seriously pricey items, including a £150,000 handbag and a bunch of bespoke jewellery. Some of it was super unique, like a massive diamond ring and butterfly-shaped earrings.
Witnesses say he looked like a white guy in his late 20s to 30s, dressed in a dark hoodie and cargo pants. He even had some sort of weapon that looked like a flamethrower. Yikes!
Police are warning anyone trying to sell the stolen goods that they’re pretty easy to spot. They’re not sure if the stuff has already left the country, but they’re keeping an eye out.
DC Paulo Roberts, who’s on the case, said this was a bold move. He’s urging anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to come forward. The family is really shaken up, and they just want their stuff back.
Csaba Virag, the family’s chief of staff, mentioned that the thief seemed experienced. While it looked like a solo job, he thinks there might be a bigger network involved in selling the stolen items.
They’re offering a whopping £500,000 reward for info leading to the thief’s capture, plus 10% of the value of any recovered items. Avenue Road is known for its wealthy residents, so this is a big deal.
Earlier this year, insurers warned about a spike in high-end jewellery thefts, and it looks like they were right!
